Supported Employment

Thanks to many employers, people with learning and developmental disabilities are working productively in their communities. Community Personnel Services provides our workers with the training, skills and support they need in the workplace. Download the Community Personnel Services Consumer Handbook.

Getting Started with Supported Employment:

  • Job Analysis: One of our Employment Specialists will meet with you to conduct a Job Analysis and answer any questions you may have.
  • Screening: CPS will screen potential candidates and present employers with one or more prospective applicants.
  • Hiring Decision: When an employer selects a CPS consumer for employment, we assign a Job Coach to the new employee. Our Job Coach will stay on the job until the training meets your satisfaction. If several employees are needed to do tasks rather than an individual, CPS can provide options to accommodate the employer’s needs.

Job Coach: A Job Coach is an integral part of the employment plan and reports to work with the new employee, learning the job with him/her. People with disabilities may require a longer time to learn than a standard training provides. When training is complete and tasks are mastered to the employer’s satisfaction, the coach will visit the site less frequently. The coach is always available to continue assisting with acquisition of new skills.

Solutions to staffing: Supported employment may be the business decision that is right for an employer. Our workers are qualified for many positions. They are successful in maintenance, filing, packing, collating, inspecting, retail, stocking, security, reception and assembly work.

CPS SERVICES ARE PROVIDED AT NO COST TO THE EMPLOYER.
